Cottage And Rainbow

Commissioned by the Royal Academy of Arts, Yin composed a chamber piece for the John Constable's painting Cottage and Rainbow (1808, The RA collection). It was performed twice at the In Tune with the RA concerts as part of the RA's 250th Anniversary Celebrations. (For more details, click here: Concert 1; Concert 2)

The instrumentation is for cello, alto flute and electronics, blending and layering colours in a way as in the soothing landscape sketch. A sense of shadow is created by letting the acoustic sounds and granular electronic sounds overlap, imitate and chase each other.
